Business Logos Symbols

Business logos are a great marketing tool for aiding brand recall. Logos could be in the form of text logos, symbols or a combination of text and symbols. Every company needs a unique logo that will help it stand out from the rest of the competition. A text logo is also known as a word mark or a logotype. The text consists of the company name. Such a logo could also have a few graphical elements such as lines, boxes or borders along with the letters. The main focus of the logo should however be on the letters and the graphical elements should just accentuate the letters. It is ideally suited for companies that have a business name made up of a few words. In such cases this helps to keep the business name intact and should be designed along clean and simple lines. If your company name is already well known and is unique you may want just the name as your logo. A text logo also works for companies that have a wide range of products which it may find hard to depict through a single symbol or image. They also have a longer shelf life so there are fewer chances of the logo outliving its use. It also helps in protecting your trademark provided it is unique. In cases where the company name is not unique a text logo may not work as it may be difficult to connect with the business. If your company name has no correlation with the products or services you provide, it may not help to describe your offerings. A graphic logo would work better in this instance. A symbol logo consists of just images and other graphical elements. It does not comprise either letters or text. This type of a logo works well when your company is already widely recognized. If you have been using a combination logo, you may want to switch to a symbol logo once your brand name has been established. A symbol logo may also help a company to stand out from the competition. If your company has a global presence you may want to have a universal graphical symbol that is common to all countries. If your company is new you may not want to spend time and money in educating people about your logo. In this case a symbol logo may not be suitable for you. A combination logo combines the advantages of a text logo and a symbol logo. Through the symbol the logo describes what you do and the text mentions your company name. This type of a logo is best suited for small and mid size companies since it helps in creating brand recognition.
